Installation

Windows

  1. 1Download and run the installer
  2. 2If you see "Windows protected your PC", click More info then Run anyway
  3. 3The app will appear in your system tray (bottom right)
  4. 4Copy any VIN to see it in action!

macOS

  1. 1Download and open the .dmg file
  2. 2Drag Wrench Node to your Applications folder
  3. 3If blocked, go to System Preferences → Security and click Open Anyway
  4. 4The app will appear in your menu bar (top right)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Windows show a security warning?

Windows flags all apps from small developers without expensive Microsoft certificates. It's not detecting a virus - just that we're a newer company. Click 'More info' then 'Run anyway' to install.

Will this slow down my computer?

No. The app uses about 50MB of RAM and near-zero CPU. It runs silently in your system tray and only activates when you copy a VIN.

What does the app actually do?

It watches your clipboard for VINs (17-character codes). When detected, a small popup appears letting you create a new session or find an existing one in Wrench Node.

Do I need this app to use Wrench Node?

No. This is optional. You can also use our browser extension, or just use the web app directly. The desktop app is for shops that want the fastest workflow.
